Stephen Beck - 2021 Facilitator of the Year

Please join us in congratulating Stephen Beck our 2021 Facilitator of the Year!

About Stephen:

A Clinical Social Worker, Stephen worked in community mental health from 1976 until 1990 when he went into private practice. An energy psych practitioner by definition, EMDR is the standard of practice by which he integrates all of his approaches to therapy.

Stephen has been associated with HAP for the last 4 years. His commitment to HAP is twofold and based on experiences from earlier in his life.

First, in the early 90's he wanted to get trained in EMDR but couldn't afford to do so. Secondly, he wanted to get trained because the clients he saw at that time, many of whom were low income, presented with trauma and he wanted to be able to work with them to clear that trauma and have a good quality of life.

Stephen shares, "I have a commitment to get EMDR therapy to all people who need it and my association with HAP is how I am able to deliver on that commitment. I am quite grateful to the entire HAP community for how they nurture me and allow me to work to make the world a better place for us all to have our full human experience."

Interesting facts about Stephen:
-He owns three surf boards!
-Most proud of being with Emily 42 years and of his two daughters Lena and Elise.
-Over the last 34 years, he has populated over 400 Western Red Cedar trees, that now range from 2 to 60 feet, on his six acre property of Douglas Fir just outside of Portland.
